Beeswax Works Shipping Policy

Simple, reliable shipping for your candle orders — here's what to expect from order to doorstep.

Processing Times

All orders ship from our workshop in Revelstoke, BC within 3–5 business days. September through December is our peak "Candle Season," and fulfillment may take a little longer during these months. If a delay pushes your order meaningfully past the estimate shown at checkout, we'll contact you with an updated timeline and the option to cancel for a full refund.

Shipping Rates

Canada — Orders over $150 CAD ship free.

United States — Orders of $150 USD or more in physical merchandise qualify for free UPS shipping. Orders below this threshold are charged the shipping rate shown at checkout.

Free shipping covers transportation only. It does not include import duties, import taxes, or brokerage fees charged directly by UPS (see "Shipping to the United States" below).

Need your candles sooner? Choose an expedited shipping option at checkout. If you'd like extra insurance on your shipment, let us know at the time of purchase.

Peak Season & Holiday Timelines

To make sure your candles arrive safely and on time during the holiday rush, please plan ahead:

  • Canada: allow 7–12 days from order date to delivery.
  • United States: allow 12–15 days from order date to delivery.

Shipping to the United States

We ship U.S. orders from Canada using UPS through ClickShip. Delivery estimates are shown at checkout and begin once your order has been produced and dispatched. Customs processing or carrier delays can extend delivery times.

Duties, Taxes & Brokerage Fees

Because your order ships from Canada into the United States, it may be assessed import duties, import taxes, and brokerage fees charged directly by UPS. These charges are separate from the product price and any shipping fee charged at checkout.

The recipient is responsible for paying any charges assessed by U.S. customs authorities or UPS. UPS may request payment before or at delivery. The amount depends on the shipment, product classification, country of origin, customs treatment, and the carrier service used.

We do not describe U.S. orders as duty-free, and we cannot guarantee that a shipment will arrive without import or carrier charges.

Beeswax Works candles are made in Canada and may qualify for preferential duty treatment under CUSMA (called USMCA in the United States) when the origin and customs documentation are correct. We include a Certificate of Origin with every U.S. shipment, and UPS is our preferred courier and customs broker.

Effective August 29, 2025, the United States removed the $800 USD de minimis exemption that previously allowed qualifying low-value shipments to enter duty-free based on value alone. As a result, shipments of any value may now be assessed duties and import taxes.

About UPS Brokerage Fees

UPS brokerage fees are the customer's responsibility for all U.S. shipments and are separate from the free-shipping offer above. These are UPS service charges for customs compliance, not government tariffs. Common examples include:

  • PGA Disclaim Fee — covers UPS's filing that your candles are not regulated by U.S. agencies (e.g., the FDA).
  • Entry Prep Fee — an administrative fee for preparing customs paperwork, charged even when duty is waived.
  • Entry Line Charge — applies when multiple product types require separate customs classification.

If Charges Are Not Paid

If a U.S. package is refused, abandoned, or returned because import duties, taxes, or UPS charges go unpaid, we will refund the price of the merchandise, less our original outbound shipping cost and any return freight, restocking, or disposal costs we actually incur or are charged by UPS. We will not charge you anything beyond your original order total without contacting you first. See our Refund Policy for details.

For tracking or delivery questions, contact us with your order number. For questions about a specific UPS brokerage invoice or customs charge, please contact UPS directly or the party named on the invoice — those charges are assessed independently of our product pricing.
